IMPORTANT
Read this manual carefully before
installing, operating or servicing this
equipment.
PREPARATION
1. Determineasuitablelocationfortheun-
dergroundreel.Anideallocationwould
havegoodsoildrainage,andalevel
surface.
2. Removethesodorlandscaping,anddiga
holeapproximately48”x48”x51”deep.
3. Place12”ofdrainagestoneonthebottom
ofthehole.SeeFigure3.
NOTE:Installingadrainagepipemaybeneces-
saryinpoorlydrainedsoils.SeeFigure4.The
drainagepipemaybeconnectedtoanexisting
drainagesystem,asubmergeddrywell,ora
culvert outlet.
NOTE:Consultlocalconstructioncodesand
regulationsbeforeconnectingtoanexisting
drainageorstormsewersystem.
CAUTION:Thereelwillbedamagedifit
becomessubmergedinwater.Adequatesoil
drainage must be provided.
4. Addandlevelmoredrainagestoneto
bringthebottomoftheholeto39¼”
fromthetop.Donotoverfillthehole,itis
easier to add more stone later if necessary.
INSTALLATION
5. Placereelunitintheholeandlevel.
Comparetheheightoftheriseropening
withthefinishedgrade,thetopoftheriser
shouldbeatgradelevel.SeeFigure3.
Addorremovestonetoadjusttheheight
oftherisertogradelevel.
6. Connectreeltothewaterline.SeeFigure
5.Usethesuppliedconnectionhoseto
connectthereeltowatersupply.Donot
userigidplumbingfortheconnection;
thiswillvoidthewarranty.
WARNING:Ensurethatthesupplylinepres-
suredoesnotexceedmaximumworkingpres-
sureofreel.Applythreadsealanttoallpipe
threadedconnections.Donotovertighten
connection.Thetopcovermayberemovedfor
accesstotheinlethoseofthereel.Aholemay
becutinthereelcaseatanyconvenientpoint
toroutethehoseorpipe.Sealtheholewith
siliconorsimilarsealantafterthehoseorpipe
hasbeenconnected.Asanalternative,thesup-
plylinemayenterthecasefromtheopeningin
thebottomifhardpipeisused.Ashutoffvalve
isrecommendedinthesupplylineincasethe
reelshouldneedservicing.SeeFigure5for
preferredplumbingdiagram.SeeFigure6for
alternate plumbing diagram for installations
usingexistingirrigationsystems.
